Linda Strommen’s newest CD, Life’s Journeys- Oboe Works of Eric Ewazen, release date with Albany (PARMA) records is on June 5th, 2026! The CD includes Eric Ewazen’s second concerto, Hold Fast Your Dreams; his exquisite song cycle, A Summer’s Journey; and his lovely incidental piece, August Night. Assisting artists are Angela Park, Kevin Murphy, and Aram Arakelyan, pianists; and Tifanny Choe, Soprano. Watch for Release details and see Events/Publications

 

Highlights

Linda Strommen will be teaching at the Interlochen Arts Camp from June 27th through July 19th, 2026. She will also be teaching at the Indiana University Summer Music Clinic June 14th to June 20th. (See Events

 

Linda Strommen is featured on the Reed Talk podcast "Episode 19", along with hosts, Courtney Miller and Margaret Marco. Released November 2021. She will join Noa Kageyama and Lillian Copland for an upcoming 2026 Podcast episode through The Bulletproof Musician.

 

Eric Ewazen’s score for his song cycle A Summer’s Journey, for Soprano, Oboe, and Piano co-edited by Linda Strommen and Eric Ewazen is now published and available with Theodore Presser Music as of June 2025.

 

Eric Ewazen's second concerto "Hold Fast Your Dreams" for Oboe and Piano, and Oboe and Wind Ensemble is  published by Theodore Presser Company Ewazen has orchestrated the second concerto for oboe and full orchestra, and the newest orchestration is currently available. Indiana University Jacob's Oboe Studio news: Eight recent Indiana University Jacobs School Oboe Studio graduates won playing or teaching positions in 2024 and 2025, three in 2023, six positions in 2022, four in 2020 and 2021, and seven in 2019. Congratulations, IU oboe Alumni!!

 

The international book 'Understanding the Oboe Reed' by Graham Salter with an American Reed Contribution by Elaine Douvas and Linda Strommen, was published by Bearsden Music, England in August 2018; the second edition in 2022. It is available through TrevCo Music. It is an exciting resource, and it will change your life and reed making! (For more information please see Selected Teaching Materials).  

 

In May 2019, Linda Strommen received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She addressed the graduates, students and community at the live streamed CIM Honors Convocation Ceremony.
